The Prayerful Word - August 23

  • Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the reality of what we hope for, the proof of what we don’t see.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 Happy are those who trust in the Lord… They will be like trees planted by the streams, whose roots reach down to the water.

1 Timothy 4:8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Ephesians 6:7 Render service with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not to men and women.

Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

May you know that God does not twist justice, nor does He pervert what is right; therefore if you seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty for compassion, He will rouse Himself on your behalf and pour His blessings of restoration on you so richly that what you had in the past will seem small compared with what He will give you in times to come. Job 8

May you realize that God does not reject a blameless man or strengthen the hands of evildoers. Therefore He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy, though His enemies will be clothed with shame and the tents of the wicked will be no more. Job 8

May you know the truth of the majesty of God's profound wisdom and vast power, for He alone stretches out the heavens, and any who think they are strong enough to help others will find they are not even able to help themselves if they choose to stand against Him. Job 9

May you recognize, and honor, the Mediator, Jesus Christ, God's Son, Who arbitrates between God and man, laying His life down for us, speaking words of love and peace to those who repent, and words of sorrow and loss to those who reject. Job 9

May you feel free to express your heart to God, for He already knows your thoughts, and He does not fear your wrath; once you are finished, then listen – you will hear the Spirit and know the Mind of God, and if you do not harden your heart, but obey, you will live and God will prosper your soul. Job 10

May you hesitate to speak, even when you speak from the word of God, without first seeking the heart of God, lest you use His Truth according to your understanding, which is enmity to His will. Job 11

May you seek Him always, speaking only what you hear Him speak, leaving the results in His hands, that the Spirit may bring life, without the blemish of flesh involved, making of yourself no reputation, keeping none of His glory for yourself. Job 11

My child, I call you to labor in My work, but not to struggle; I call you to step out in faith, but not to fear.
When I bade Peter come to Me on the water, as he requested, it was not he that held himself above the water, but I. When I place an assignment before you, in answer to your heart's desire, do not look at the work, but at Me. Do not struggle to muster the resources, plan out the approach, and have backup plans to cover foreseeable possibilities; look to Me for all your needs, and receive what I have for you, for that, too, is guidance.
When Mary was given the promise of a Son, even as she marveled, she did not question or give in to fear, struggling to understand, but accepted Gabriel's declaration in submissive humility, with faith that each need, each challenge, each concern would be met in a timely and appropriate manner from heaven.
What I ask of you is beyond your means, but not beyond your understanding. However, I urge you, do not rely on your own understanding; that which is done with your own resources is made in your own image and will perish.
You speak of “blind” faith, and I say that it is not blind, but focused. Peter stayed above the water while he kept his eyes on Me, struggling only when he took note of his circumstances.
Wait on Me, as the waiter in a fine restaurant waits on you, remaining unobtrusive, not drawing attention to himself, but always aware and anticipating your next request, ready to fulfill it even as it is spoken.
Wait on Me, filling your thoughts with Me, filling your heart with Me, filling your conversation with Me. My Spirit of understanding will speak to you, showing you the next thing that your King will want, revealing how best you can serve the One Who is deserving of your obedient submission.
Rest in Me, abiding in the True Vine, bearing fruit that will remain, for it is of the Father, and brings glory to the Father.

May you rejoice in the resurrection of Christ, which is your hope and promise of life after death, and freedom from fear of death, making death no longer a destination, but merely a portal to pass through to eternity. 1 Corinthians 15

May you live in the promise of the resurrection, standing firm in the face of opposition and tribulation, knowing that the promises of God you have are not just for this life in this world, but will be what you take with you as you pass through death into life eternal, regardless of your standing in the world or your circumstances in this life, for the promises of God are yea, and amen, unto those who believe. 1 Corinthians 15

May the Lord not rebuke you in His anger or discipline you in His wrath, for all your longings lie open before Him and your groanings are not hidden from Him; therefore, as you wait for the Lord, He will answer you. Psalm 38

May the Lord not forsake you or be far from you, but come quickly to help you, for He is the Lord your Savior. Psalm 38

May you give thought to your ways, as an upright man does, rather than simply put up a bold front, as a wicked man does. Proverbs 21:29
