Deception and The Law (2)

  • Do you remember what Galatians 3:11 said? Here it is again. "So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

So now look what Romans 8:3,4 says.

The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. God did something that works for everyone.

Wait. Did that say He put an end to sin’s control over us? Come on. Let’s just let the truth prevail here and quit trying to bring the level of God’s truth down to our faith. Rather, lets fight to raise our faith to the level of God’s truth.

He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Well, if Jesus fulfilled and satisfied the just requirements of the law for us, why are people still trying to live up to a set of standards that no longer exist?

Romans 10:4 – “For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.

Did you see that? Once again we read that Jesus already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given and those of us who believe in Him are righteous, not sinners. That’s what being made right means.

Now I’ve spent time over and over again presenting scriptures that show we are no longer slaves to sin but are slaves to righteousness. We are prisoners of Jesus Christ, which is Truth and life. So, I won’t go back through all those again, but you can look them up for yourselves. Just simply go to biblegateway.com, or your choice of online bible apps, and type in righteous. I would select the books of Paul from Romans to Philemon to narrow your search, but you can select the new testament or the whole bible for the search if you want. You will be overwhelmed as to your righteousness. So, with that in mind, let me show you that sin is no longer an issue for the believer. Look at this scripture.

1 Tim 1:9 – “realizing the fact that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers.”

Again, since you are righteous, and the law is not intended for people who are righteous, how can sin have any power. Remember, 1 Corinthians 15:56 says that the power of sin is in the law. So where’s theres no law, it’s impossible to sin. Once again, remember Romans 4:15 and 5:13. Add to that this verse.

1 John 3:9 – “No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”

I want to add this from Graham Cooke. “God is not in two minds about you. The religious system is. They take bits from the new life in Christ, but they are actually still trying to fix up the old you. Don’t ever, ever let anybody try and fix up the old you, just enjoy being dead! You don’t have to work on it, you don’t have to pray about it, you don’t have to hold it up before Jesus and apologize incessantly; you have to rejoice because the Lord killed it off. You have this whole new identity and persona which is Christ in you, the expectation of glory, and you are learning how to walk in newness of life.”

Just enjoy being dead. You don’t have to apologize incessantly. You cannot sin. You are free from sin. Just study Romans 6 and see how many times it says your dead to sin. Here’s a few references starting with Romans 6:2-6.

Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

You were buried with him by baptism into death. You’re dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. No longer slaves to sin. Over 44 times in Romans 5,6,7,8 it says you’re dead. Dead people don’t sin.

    Romans 6:10,11.

10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Consider or “think of” yourselves dead to sin.

    Romans 6:14, then 17,18.

14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you. 18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

No longer slaves to sin. Now slaves or servants to righteousness. We are not righteous because we live righteously. We live righteously because we are made righteous. We have right standing with God, not because I do right things, but because Jesus did right things and I believe in Jesus. When will we just let the bible say what it means and mean what it says. Live free in Christ Jesus. Grace and Peace.

Crystal Roeden The scripture says, "He restoreth my soul." I believe when you reach the age of accountability, you are spiritually dead until you repent of being a sinner and ask the Lord into your heart, then he restores your soul and you are born again. ...  more

Mark Kunerth Whoops. I was saying, that is why I'm persistent in making sure I identify those who are free from sin are those who believe. Also correct is your statement of eternal life. Everyone has eternal life. The question is "who will be your neighbors?" Those...  more
