God's Protection Plan

  • God’s Protection Plan

Which of these profiles fits you today?

You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. What you brought home blew away. Things seem to breakdown.  Always some unexpected bill comes in so you never get caught up.  Been years since an increase of pay. Family gets sick often.

Everything you put your hand to is blessed. You have money in the bank so when things happen no worries you can pay for it.  Or when the unexpected expense happens money comes in to pay for it.  The family is healthy.

If you are the 1st one how do you get to the 2nd one?  How does someone get into the 2nd choice?

Did you know God created a plan of protection so His people would always be in the 2nd choice of blessings from Heaven?

Let us look at God’s original plans for us from Genesis.

Genesis 1:26-28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Genesis 2:15-16 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden.”

So we know God’s original plan for us was to not worry about food – He gave us his garden.  He gave us full authority over the earth and all the creatures on it.  He gave us orders to subdue the earth and work/cultivate it.  And God’s plan was very good.

There is one more major item most people over look about God’s plan.  He wants us to rest.  The last thing God made on the sixth day was man.  So what did God do on the seventh day?

Genesis 2:2-3 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Yes, God wanted us to work His garden but at the same time it is to be restful not a burden.  He wanted time with His creation – He walked and spoke to Adam & Eve.

This is a foreign thought to most.  We are brought up only knowing the curse from Adam and Eve being kicked out of the garden.

Genesis 3:17-19  Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground.

If we are behind financially or need to pay a bill, our thoughts turn to work harder or get another job.  The sweat of our brow is how it is accomplished.

But my question to you is what does God still think or plan for us?  Does His original plan still hold for us?

Psalm 35:37 “The Lord be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.”

Philippians: 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus

1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Mathew 6:32-33 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

So from the above verses God has not given up on His original plan.  So the next question is how do we tap into His original plan?  How do we see all our needs met?

For some answers let’s go back to Genesis.

Genesis 4:3-4 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock.

So our introduction to the sons of Adam and Eve is them giving an offering to the Lord.  Can we venture to say this was handed down from their parents, whom received this from God?

Genesis 8:20-22 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

Notice Noah gives the Lord a pleasing offering and the Lord stops cursing the ground forever.

Genesis 14:17-20  Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most high, Creator of heaven and earth.  And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand. “Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Hebrews 7:1-4 This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!

Here we have the first mention of the tithe, clearing up the notion that it was only set up from the Law handed down from Moses.  I believe God made it a Law because of the slave mentality and perhaps stubbornness of heart they had.  God knew the people would have to tithe to receive His blessing so He made the Law.  Side note – is not the Law written on our hearts (Romans 2:15)?

Psalms 110:4 states “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” I still wonder if Jesus was not Melchizedek.  Even Hebrews 7 mention resembling the Son of God. I like to believe Abraham gave a tithe to Jesus and the next story is about Abraham going to be the father of nation. Hmm gives one something to think about.

So the secrecy of God’s protection is tithes and offerings.  Remember John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.  God knew this; Satan stole the authority of rule from Adam & Eve and got them kicked out of the garden. God then set up offerings and tithe for protection from the devourer.

Haggai 1:5-11 Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.”

Haggai speaks of what our thoughts and actions can do if against God’s desire.  Here the people have decided to withhold funding and work on God’s Temple/House.  So we notice God withholds financial blessing upon the people.

Haggai 2:15-19 Now give careful thought to this from this day on consider how things were before one stone was laid on another in the Lord’s temple. From this day on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, give careful thought to the day when the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid. Give careful thought: Is there yet any seed left in the barn? Until now, the vine and the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree have not borne fruit. “From this day on I will bless you.

Again “Give careful thought to your ways”.  If you are not seeing God’s blessing in finances, health, or soul; look no further than your thoughts.

Let us look at a famous verse but probably have not put much thought into it.

Malachi 3:9-12 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.

From the above verse what happens if we withhold God’s tithe:

    You are cursed.

Heaven and God’s blessings are closed to you.

The devourer has free reign with you.

Plans, finances, innovations, and such all come up short or fail.

And if you give God His whole tithe look what happens:

You are blessed to be a blessing and others recognize your blessing.

You have fresh creative ideas, new innovations, Kingdom thoughts, Kingdom strategies, hidden secrets   and treasures, and many other Heavenly blessings.

The evil one is held back from touching you, your family and all you put your hand to.

Things do not breakdown, you have a green thumb, and plans fully develop and get completed.

There is more than enough to give Jesus His full reward.

In closing, I would like to tell a story an acquaintance told me about his lesson on tithing.  When his parents became born again they decided they need to tithe to the Lord.  They were living paycheck to paycheck at the time and not sure how ends would be met. Either way they tithed first and then would pay their bills.  As soon as his parents tithed all siblings became healthy.  You see, prior to tithing for one reason or another he and his siblings were always sick and going to the doctor.  Once his parents gave their first tithe the illnesses stop.  The Lord stopped the doctor visits and they had money to pay the bills and had funds left over.

So for your challenge today – God states “Test me in this”.  Give Him His whole tithe.  Mark the date and watch and see His marvelous provisions.  Remember Haggai - “Give careful thought to your ways”.

As of today it is your choice – blessings or curses.  God is giving you a challenge to trust Him and not money.

I leave you with these verses:

    Hebrews 4:4-11:

“Today when you hear him calling, do not harden your hearts against him.”

This new place of rest he is talking about does not mean the land of Israel that Joshua led them into. If that were what God meant, he would not have spoken long afterwards about “today” being the time to get in.  So there is a full complete rest still waiting for the people of God.  Christ has already entered there. He is resting from his work, just as God did after the creation.  Let us do our best to go into that place of rest, too, being careful not to disobey God as the children of Israel did, thus failing to get in.
