HOLY GRIEF: CHRIST-CENTERED HEALING FROM DEVASTATING LOSS

  • FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - LOVE

Galatians 5:22 (ESV) – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

The first Fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22 in the fruit of love.

Though our feelings come and go, God's love for us does not.  – C. S. Lewis

The scriptures in the Bible are loaded with verses showing God’s love for us, His people.  After all we were made in His image (Genesis 1:27).  Jesus said to the Pharisee Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – John 3:16 (NKJV)

Not only did God show us His love by giving us His Son Jesus for our salvation, which by itself is more than enough, but did you know God loves us as much as He loves Jesus?  In the Gospel of John, Jesus prayed to His Father in heaven:

I made Your name known to them, and will continue to make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.  – John 17:26 (TLV).

Wow, did you see that?  That says to me that Jesus is saying  because He showed us His Father, the love God has for Jesus, God also has for us, and that Jesus loves us that much too. This is a wonder revelation that our Father God and Jesus both love us as much as They love each other.

In times of distress, grief, sorrow or even on a great day I encourage you to pray a Psalm or other scripture of God’s unfailing love for you.
