“The project was named after the Egyptian god of chaos. “This campaign is named Apophis [another name for Apep] after the cosmic world serpent from ancient Egyptian cosmology. The serpent pursues the sun god Ra, and every so often, nearly consumes the sun disc, resulting in an eclipse,” a NASA website stated.
“Apep, also known as ‘Apophis’ in Greek, was the Egyptian god of chaos. Apep was the polar opposite of the godly personification of order, Ma’at, and the chief enemy of the king of the gods, the sun-god Ra. He took the form of a great snake,” according to study.com
This project aims to “measure disruptions in the Earth’s ionosphere caused by the Moon’s temporary eclipse of the Sun,” which is accomplished via sounding rockets that carry scientific instruments into key regions of space.
Additionally, on the same day, CERN’s biggest and most potent particle accelerator in the world will smash protons together in an attempt to find any unseen particles (dark matter) that is covertly causing the cosmos to expand, according to the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

NASA To Launch 3 Rockets On April 8 During Total Solar Eclipse
So April 8th is turning out to have quite the litany of events planned! A total eclipse, possibly a distant comet swinging by, CERN restarting experiments, and an ill-named science project!
Where I live, we won’t see much of, if any of the eclipse, and we don’t own a telescope to spot the comet either. But one thing I do know, having had to deal with it first hand in the past, is that names given to “gods” in ancient mythos tend to be literally connected to actual demonic entities in the very real supernatural world! I’m not surprised the first round of NASA’s experiements were done in Mexico. They too have a deity known in English as the world serpent, and with a very long Aztec/Inca/Mayan name in Mexico. Incidentally, the Chinese dragon could be called a serpent due to it’s rather snake-like features.
In Scripture, we read:
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:14-15 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
(this passage prophecies the coming of Jesus Christ and the events that would happen between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.)John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
World serpent indeed. . . We don’t need ignorant scientists paying such a personage any homage!
Have you put your faith in Jesus Christ? Is your life placed in His eternal hands? I don’t know how the events of April 8th will affect daily life. There could be nothing to impact what happens on earth, or there could be. There could be nothing to impact spiritual life, or there could be. But it seems that various pundits, astronomers, and pattern-watchers, are saying to be prepared for more than just looking at a total solar eclipse. Time to check your spiritual compass to be sure it’s pointed at Jesus Christ as your guiding North Star. No matter what anyone may try to do here on earth, when your life is in His hands, you can rest assured that whether in or out of the body, your eternal welfare is assured. If you prayed that prayer and meant it, you need to find a Bible and start reading it. Begin in the book of John, then Proverbs, then Romans, then the Psalms, then four small books: Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians (or the General Electric Power Company). Find other believers, and a church that did not bow the knee during the pandemic. As long as they are Salvation preaching, Bible teaching, Holy spirit leading people, they will aid in your growth as a believer.
The days are getting darker. Be sure your eternal destiny is in good hands!
