HOLY DESPERATION
by Donna Milham
What does holy desperation look like? While meditating on Luke 5:18 I began to see through the lens of being on site, viewing holy desperation.
They tried to push through the crowd to Jesus but could not reach Him. Holy desperation came upon them, they climbed up onto the roof, took off some tiles and lowered their sick friend who was still on his mat, right in front of Jesus.
Seeing their faith Jesus said to the man, son, your sins are forgiven.
He didn’t ask for his name, heritage, if he fasted and prayed for 40 days, He saw faith in action – holy desperation. Holy covenantal caring - our brother cannot remain this way – there’s healing in that place, we must get him there.
In vs. 17 it says “and the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus”.
It says He was teaching but more had to be going on for it to say this. I believe that as He taught people were getting healed by His Presence, His Word, His Touch, His decrees and SUDDENLY a man drops down in front of Him – holy interruption!
He did not say who interrupted My message – for HE was the message and now the Message would be shown again – declaring that He was the Lamb who forgives sin and He was the Healer, the Son of God! The Son of God calls this man – son!
Not hey you, but son! Son, your sins are forgiven. Decreeing who he was and the action Jesus took in response to their act of desperation.
I AM the Last Adam and I AM the first born Son of God!
You will be one of many sons who walk the earth – forgiven and healed. You will walk as a holy declaration - when the world asks ‘who do you say that I Am” your life and body will reveal to them – Jesus Christ is the One True God!
“Stand up – take up your mat and go on home” - WHY – “because you ARE healed!”
Immediately he jumped to his feet while everyone watched.
Can you feel the tension in the room, religious demons accusing Jesus of blasphemy and Jesus saying He will PROVE that I, the Son of Man have authority on earth to forgive sins.
Another Mt. Carmel moment: religion vs. relationship; law vs. liberty; slavery to a system vs. healing, wholeness, forgiveness.
“Stand up take your mat and go on home because you are healed’ was all that was needed.
Holy Pure Heart of Compassion flowed with the Holy Oil of Healing – Words of Healing Love and Light from His Mouth and Being – This Holy one of Holy Life released wholeness with a command, not a suggestion.
Stand up and then what – take up your mat and go home
Take your mat that held you captive in sickness – roll it up and put it under your arm and walk out of here healed – sickness is no longer your master!
Walk out and go home and SHOW the ones you love, the village you live –
the Greatness of the Kingdom of God, the Love of the Father and Son and the working of Holy Spirit.
Never lay on that mat again – display it as a reminder – son – forgiven and healed!
Divinely owned, divinely forgiven and reconciled, divinely healed and made whole.
All the privileges of sonship!
He immediately jumped to his feet – picked up his mat and WENT HOME praising God, not staying for another touch for himself – OBEDIENCE – he BECAME the touch for the next person. As he WENT he became the testimony for those who didn’t/couldn’t get to that house that evening.
Jesus’ healing touch EXTENDED through this man – now a son – nameless – what was his name – son, healed and forgiven – THRUST – SENT into the village – sent home
Picture this –
The one carried for years now comes walking with his mat under his arm. The same streets that he has watched as he had been carried, turning his head one side to the next to see the marketplace activity -kids playing, dogs barking, vendors selling….
Now he walks fully upright looking, praising – declaring with each step – I am a son and I am healed and I am forgiven, so I praise the God of Healing Love.
It says everyone was GRIPPED with GREAT wonder and awe and praised God over and over saying we have seen amazing things today.
ARE WE GRIPPED with great wonder and awe at the touch of the Master’s Hand?
This should Grip Us – for it is The Eternal Hand reaching, touching those He cares for.
We cry out for more and we must, but in the meantime, each touch of a life, no matter how big or small, should bring great wonder and awe
