I grew up in a place where there was a lot of sand. Unfortunately, where there is sand, there are sandburs. My brothers and I played outside a lot. Sandburs would get stuck to the bottom of our shoes. They would be so thick on our shoestrings that they would make a solid mass. We would pick them out with our fingers. They really hurt when they would stick in our hands. We usually ended up with bloody, sore fingers. One summer I discovered cowboy boots. They were made of leather. Even the soles were leather. The sandburs couldn't find a place to stick to. It occurred to me, when I was thinking about it, that the cowboy boots were kind of like the blood of Jesus. It protects us from all the barbs of the enemy. "The blood of Jesus is the most powerful force in the universe."* He has given it to us. Apply the blood!
Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. "
