"THE PICTURE
'How do we misuse imagination?'
'A prisoner of war was confined in a cell having a single window.
He tried to forget his pain by covering the window's bars with a
self-made drawing. The drawing showed him in a great auditorium,
surrounded by admiring men and attractive women. When feeling
depressed he looked at the picture and imagined it as being his
real life. But covering the bars with the pretty picture really
did nothing for him; he knew it was all a fake. That is how
psychic prisoners misuse imagination. The picture must come down.
The bars must be faced. Then, intelligent plans for escape can begin.'"
