"One purpose of this class, all classes, is to show you how to stop
making mistakes that shatter your spirit and keep you wounded with
regret. Now, isn't that nice?
Aren't you pleased to hear that you can hear the details as to how you
can stop making personal errors that hurt you so much? So that means
that you're going to be very alert, very cooperative, with what you're
going to hear. But I want to tell you right at the start that what
you're going to hear is going to run into a very high wall of
resistance.
Because you can say that you are receptive, you can on the surface
agree with me that it'd be nice to learn how to stop making blunders
that hurt. You can say it, but you are unconscious of the inner workings
of your nature. Now you have learned something about how to listen to
this talk.
That way is for you to not agree, simply on the surface, that it's good
and healthy for you, which it is; but to also know that the enemy within
doesn't want you to learn how to stop making mistakes. It doesn't want
you to stop feeling bad. It wants you to continue as it is. And this
force, this enemy, can be explained, which would take a lot of
explanation. But very simply, the opposition to you learning how to
treat yourself nice, the enemy consists of a momentum of negative force
which has had its way with you and has twisted and turned you any way
that it wants, and it has operated in the dark.
Now, listen to this sentence. Something is doing something hurtful to
you, right? Yes. You get an unexpected event and you react with fear,
react with surprise, with hurt. Where did that come from? Now you know
very well it didn't come from the outside object. The person yelling at
you. He simply ignited the fuse that was already slowly burning inside
of you. Then the explosion came.
You have already located the only source of every difficulty, every
frustration, and every rage that you've ever had. The source is inside
you and nowhere else. Did the wall go up? I tell you that without you
knowing it, it went up. You don't want to hear that.
You've got such an enormous self-image of already being a nice person, a
strong man, a good woman - you've already got that strong picture, idea,
imagination of yourself, that you don't want to hear anything else. For
example, that you have the responsibility to see that you're the cause
of all your problems and no one else is.
Being brave, spiritually speaking, means that you're not going to
continue with your evasion of the facts."
