"When you are good, you feel good. Oh, we have to look at the other side of
the coin too, don't we? You feel bad because you are bad. Bad in the
sense that you're not living from what is true, what is righteous, what
is healthy; you're living from what is unhealthy, from what is dishonest.
That is what badness is among other things and so because you are bad,
apart from reality, because you are bad, you feel bad.
How clearly the basic problem has been explained to you in just the first
few words of this talk. Now that means this: that you are going to think of
the word need. You need water, you need food, you need physical activity,
the need to go out in the world - but not be a part of the world.
Now, forevermore, from this moment on, you will think of being a good man,
a good woman, as a vital need. Not just as a virtue, which it is, but
it's a necessity - something that you must have all the time in order to
feel good and free all the time.
When you feel the need for water, you go and get a glassful of water; you
feel the need for rest, you lie down and take a nap. You will now connect
the word need with the principle of you being the kind of a person, first
inwardly and then outwardly, the kind of a person who is good because you
did go through all the bad and you understood what I said a minute ago,
that the reason you feel desperate and weary and 'how did I get into this
mess in the first place?' The reason you got into it is because there is
something bad inside of you.
The only way to correct what is bad, and therefore dissolve the anxieties,
is to change, transform, the kind of an inner nature you have. So that the
transformation coming from above, that transformation will be empowered by
God, Truth, Reality, and will come as a marvelous pleasant gift to you and
so you will feel good in spite of everything regarding your physical body
or your social connections.
You will feel good - this is a key word, underline it - you will feel good
in spite of all the trials and falls of life."
