"It has to be absolutely a convincing fact in your mind that you can't give
yourself anything. And when that is done then you become one of the
greatest types of human beings, spiritually speaking, because you become a
receiver.
Now you're not a receiver of anything on a high level. You're only
receiving what you give yourself and that gives you only a repetition of
the sad and confused day that you now have.
I want you to think, therefore, of the word receive, and from now on give it
a very, very high value, a new value. The word receiving but always in
connection with the idea I first gave you, that you cannot give yourself
anything of true value, of what's authentically good for you. You can only
invent in your own mind what you think is good for you, then you can get
all that you want from yourself but it will still keep you sad. You
won't change your nature, you won't change the way you see and feel all of
life.
Receiving, receive - any variation of the word you want is now going to
become something you're going to think from and see that you can't receive
anything of lasting worth for yourself, from yourself but you can only get
it from something that is not you."
