I'm always so curious about the power of our words. I'm aware that we are speaking spirits just as God is a Spirit, we are all spirits, living in a body. This knowledge is so important to have if I am to operate as He designed me to.
We can have thousands upon thousands of words floating in our heads, but it's the speaking of those words that create the pathways we walk out. We must learn that as God created with His words, so we can create with ours. Most of us are walking out what we've spoken without realizing it, simply because we have no idea the value our words have.
I remember years ago, Walt had returned from a conference where the speaker had illustrated the power of words in such a simple but powerful way. As he shared the demonstration, he had me stand with my arm out from my side and had me repeat the words, "I am weak, I am weak, I am very, very weak!" ten times. Then he placed his hand on my arm and was easily able to push it down.
Next he had me in the same position, say the words, "I am strong, I am strong, I am very, very strong!" ten times. He pushed hard on my arm and with no effort, I resisted him and he was unable to lower my arm. He smiled and said, "Isn't that cool how your words make such an impact?"
Your words do make an impact on both things seen and unseen. You can change your outcome by changing what goes out of your mouth. Not convinced? Have you ever said, "I'm afraid I'm going to get the flu," and sure enough, you got it? Did you ever think that when you said it, you invited it to come? You came into agreement with what the medical community projected, or you had a friend who came down with it and you set yourself up by your words to have those things you say.
Hey, I'm not trying to condemn, I'm trying to get you to see that whatsoever things you say and believe, you can have. It's what Jesus said. All things are possible to them that believe. All. Get it?
Remember when God said to the Israelites, "I place before you blessings and curses, life and death, choose life!" That's what He's saying to us. "It's your choice! Choose to come into agreement with My Word. Line up with My Word. Listen to My voice. Speak life, not death. Speak health, not sickness. My Son shed His blood so that you could have not just life, but abundant life. It's your choice!"
Father, if my words were seeds planted in the garden of my life, what would I be reaping today? Would I spend my days weeding or feeding? Forgive me for the many weed seeds I've planted and make me more aware of the ability You've given me to create good with the words of my mouth. It's in Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
