In our study of the Lord's Prayer, we have come to see God as our Heavenly Father, who is Holy and deserves our worship. We also have seen that we are part of the Kingdom of God, and that we choose to do His will and trust Him to take care of us. We have also looked at the importance of forgiveness. Today, we ask God to keep us from temptation.
Why would our Father in Heaven, who knows all things, allow us to be tempted? God allows us to be put into situations where our faith can be tested and strengthened. When we ask God to keep us from temptation, we acknowledge that we need His help to resist temptation.
When you are in a time of temptation or testing, know that God is with you to strengthen and show you how to overcome it with His help. Just ask Him.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
When Christians find themselves exposed to temptation they should pray to God to uphold them, and when they are tempted they should not be discouraged. It is not a sin to be tempted; the sin is to fall into temptation.
