  The Kingdom of God

   

  The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. (Psalm 103:19 ESV)

  

   

  The Lord's Prayer arranged by Alabaster Grace

   

  In our study of the Lord's Prayer, we have come to see God as our Heavenly Father who is Holy and deserves our worship. We have recognized that we are part of the Kingdom of God, and that we choose to do His will and trust Him to take care of us. We have also looked at the importance of forgiveness and how God will protect us from temptation if we ask Him, and how we can seek help from God to deliver or rescue us from evil. Today, we conclude with giving glory and honor to the One whose name is above all names.

    

  When we pray, "For Yours is the kingdom, and the power and glory forever," we restate that our Father in Heaven is the ruler of everything. He has all power in Heaven and Earth. All power belongs to Him and nothing can come against Him. 

   

  All glory belongs to Him, and to Him alone. He is perfect and this is the praise and honor due His name. Because God's kingdom is eternal, we as believers are to give glory and honor to Him forever, both in our present lives and also in our eternal lives to come. 

   

  The last line in the prayer is "Amen". This word comes from a Hebrew root meaning to be firm and secure. When we say Amen at the end of our prayer, we are acknowledging that everything about God is true and unshakable. Amen! 

   

  Scriptures: 

  Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. (1 Chronicles 29:11) 

   

  And I heard every creature in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13) 

   

   

  The Lord's Prayer:

  Our Father in heaven, 

  hallowed be your name. 

  Your kingdom come, 

  your will be done, 

  on earth as it is in heaven. 

  Give us this day our daily bread, 

  and forgive us our debts, 

  as we forgive our debtors. 

  And lead us not into temptation, 

  But deliver us from evil. 

  For Yours is the kingdom and the power 

  and the glory forever. Amen.

   

   

  The only way the kingdom of God is going to be manifest in this world before Christ comes is if we manifest it by the way we live as citizens of heaven and subjects of the King.
