Overcoming Adversity

  • Overcoming Adversity

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33 NKJV)

How do you overcome adversity? By the blood of the Lamb. When we are placed in tough situations that we cannot get our way out of, especially defending our faith, the only hope we have is in Jesus Christ.

We have various forms of adversity everyday - some small and some overwhelming. In all things we are to come to the Lord and press into His strength, which is never ending.

We do not have the answer to every problem, and sometimes we get in our own way and cause more angst for ourselves. "We will overcome" is a statement of intent. It is not a matter of "if" or "maybe," but a definite "yes".

We overcome "by the blood of the Lamb who was slain." He is the One who gives us the victory. When facing difficulty today, remember you are an overcomer.

    Prayer:
Lord, help us to remember that our strength and hope is in You. Thank you for Your sacrifice so that we can be overcomers through You. Amen.

Adversity is not simply a tool. It is God's most effective tool for the advancement of our spiritual lives. The circumstances and events that we see as setbacks are oftentimes the very things that launch us into periods of intense spiritual growth. Once we begin to understand this, and accept it as a spiritual fact of life, adversity becomes easier to bear.
