We previously addressed the theme of God being our refuge in Psalm 91. A refuge is a place of protection and rest from all types of dangers and troubles.
Today’s verses talk about God being our dwelling place and that we would be protected in our dwelling. When we encounter difficulties after making God our dwelling place, He will be our refuge.
When God is our dwelling place we are rooted and grounded in Him, and we are able to receive His comfort and assurance. We choose Him by turning to Him and holding fast to Him. We cling to Him because it is in His presence where we live.
How do we make God our dwelling place? We call out to Him when the difficulties and trials of this life are bearing down on us. He is the Most High, and there is no one else above Him. We can experience the comfort and blessing of knowing that we dwell under the comforting shelter of the Most High.
“The all-victorious Christ is like a great rock in a weary land, to whose shelter we may flee in every time of sorrow or trial, finding quiet refuge and peace in him.”
