A week ago, I found season one of the TV series, The Fugitive on Classic Reels. After watching the last of fifteen episodes, The Holy Spirit taped on my shoulder. Throughout the series, I could feel His prodding. The parallels were too huge, not to recognize them and to do a blog on them. All truth is parallel. For every natural truth, there is an equal and corresponding spiritual truth. The Holy Spirit has prompted me over the years in much of my writing with natural phenomenon.
For those who have not heard of The Fugitive (and I’m sure, there might be one or two of you out there who haven’t heard), it is a story about the justice system who accused, convicted, and sent to death row a Doctor Richard Kimble, for the murder of his wife. The only trouble? He’s innocent. He tried telling Dt. Giraud and the court about the one-armed man he saw running across his lawn as he arrived home, but to no avail. However, on the way to death row via a train, fate intervened and the train derailed allowing the doctor to escape. The comparisons leaped off the TV and into my brain.
Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. [Romans 5:1 TPT]
Without Christ, we are all guilty of sin and hand-cuffed to the sin-nature, due to Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Without Christ, we are all fugitives from God. Without Christ, we are all heading to death row, spiritually. Without Christ, life can derail us and our purpose in His kingdom. Without Christ, our lives are nothing more than train wrecks. Without Christ, we will meander through life, looking for our one-arm
With Christ, we are justified by God and innocent, but only through faith (belief) in Jesus Christ. With Christ, we are uncuffed of the chains that bind us, and are set free, due to what Christ did on the Cross. With Christ, we can know the purpose He has for each of us. With Christ, we will live life and live life more abundantly. With Christ, we’ll have His Lawyer, who, through our faith, is on a permanent retainer, which means, He’ll never leave or forsake us [1].
With Christ, we can identify and apprehend our one-armed man. He is known by many names: pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed, sloth [2], false worship, idolatry, misusing God’s name, Violating the Sabbath, dishonoring parents, murder, adultery, stealing, lying, coveting [3], and many more. There is quite a list. Christ is, if anything, thorough. However, the Spirit will lead you into all truth [4]. Much is by unction and common sense.
Father, we bless you and worship you. Thank you for loving us and for never leaving or forsaking us. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you, Jesus for your redemption and our salvation, without which, we would be lost. Thank you, Holy Spirit for being our comforter and for leading us into all truth from Jesus. My decision for Christ was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. Thank you, Lord for my life and for the purpose with which you have entrusted me. I pray I have done you justice. In your precious name, AMEN!
