The next time you think “What use am I to God, I am only a _______?” Any vocation, job title, position, or hobby could be placed on top of that underline. I’ll put in mine as a retired blogger. However, what I am not, is a physician, lawyer, Dentist, or Pharmacist. But there we go again, thinking in the natural. Has mankind forgotten how we approach God and worship Him [1]? OK then, neither am I an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, or Teacher [2]. We’re using Scripture but we’re still thinking in the natural. We’re getting closer though.
Here's the thing (as Barretta used to say); the position in life we hold, is not the most important thing to God. Although God is proud of us for striving and then attaining. What is really important is He is “… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance [3].”
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. [John 6:44 KJV]
Who else but God could strategize such a huge undertaking by calling 7.9 billion people to repentance and salvation? God has orchestrated all of history according to His plan of not wanting anyone to perish, just to reach that one person standing in front of you asking, “What must I do to be saved?”
Given that God is not willing that any should perish, does it really matter your status or position in society that you hold to answer this person who is seeking for what they must do to be saved. You and this one person are all alone and this possible convert is relying on for an answer. Do you have one?
God is also relying on you to give the person an answer. No pressure there, right? We should all be ready to give an answer for the reason of our faith [4].
The jailer in Acts 16:30, 31 asked Paul the same question. Paul answered the man in verse 31 and it will be our focus next week in “What must I do?”
Thank you, Lord for calling me and making me a part of your plan. I do not know what I would do without you. You are a huge blessing in my life. I am thankful that you have placed me where I am, and during the time in which I stand, so Lord, I ask that you put others in my path that I may tell them of you. That they will have in you what I have. For in you Lord I live and move and have my being. As a human, I experience failure, allot, but Lord, you are always there to pick me up when I fall. Lord, you are all I have; my future is in your hands. I praise you Lord because you guide me and in the night my conscience warns me. I am thankful and feel completely secure, because you protect me from the power of death. I have served you as faithfully as I can Lord, and I know you will not abandon me to the world of the dead. You will show me the path that leads to life. Your presence fills me with joy and I worship you. In your precious name I pray, AMEN.
I am bought with a price and am yours completely.
