"THE BUFFET OF ABUNDANCE"
ABBEY DUPLAGA, BRIDGEPORT, OH
I had a dream, recently, that I was at an all-you-can-eat buffet bar, and I specifically recall the following items available to eat at the buffet: roast beef, sweet potato casserole, green beans, and apple turnovers. I got a plate, but then was pulled away by others and asked to go somewhere else for just a minute. I was told to just leave my plate there, but not to worry because it would be there when I got back. I came back, and it was gone. Someone had cleaned it up and thrown it away. Also, the buffet was cleaned up and no food was left, so I couldn't get another plate. I was upset because I was starving, and had all that nice food but wasn't able to eat it. It went to waste.
As I prayed about this dream, the Holy Spirit brought the interpretation. I believe this is a corporate word for the Body of Christ.
I found the items in the buffet interesting at a closer look. I believe the buffet represented the abundance available to us from the Lord, and the goodness of the spiritual food from the Lord that feeds our soul - unlike the junk food we can feed ourselves from the world. Below is what I believe each food item represented.
Roast beef: Meat - spiritual food that is nourishing; rich revelation and a depth of understanding of the Word.
Sweet potatoes: A sweet potato grows deeply rooted in the ground. Spending time with the Lord deepens our spiritual roots in truth and faith.
Green beans: These are "fruits" at the time of harvesting, representing fruit that will harvest forth from your life from time spent with the Lord.
Apple turnover: The apple has been used symbolically as the fruit that caused the fall of man in the garden, representing sin. God used the apple "turn over" in this dream to represent holiness - turning away from sin and toward holiness, which is a result of our time spent with the Lord and our devotion to Him.
God has a buffet of spiritual food to nourish our souls, which is obtained in His presence; but if we allow the cares, the distractions and the busyness of life to get to us and pull us away from Him, we will miss out on what He wants to feed and nourish us with for that day. We have to throw off distraction and eat. Spend time getting your soul nourished in the Lord. Everything we do is out of the overflow of our time with the Lord.
We want to be a Body of Believers who are eating the meat of rich revelation and understanding, being deeply rooted in the truth and fruitful - turning away from sin to holiness - so that Jesus may be revealed to others through us from the overflow of our time with Him.
Don't miss your daily bread (Matthew 6:11).
