"A SEASON OF SPIRITUAL TRAINING: GOD IS FAITHFUL TO FINISH WHAT HE BEGAN IN YOU!"
ANDREW WHALEN, DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TEXAS
Recently, while walking out to my car after visiting a YMCA, I heard the Holy Spirit say, "Tell My people I've been allowing the seasons of pressure and resistance to be the bulk of their training and discipleship."
When I heard that, I had an understanding that many have been misinterpreting their seasons of delay, resistance and pressure, focusing solely in the negative, without the full context of how God actually trains and disciples His sons and daughters! Often, we draw our context for "spiritual" training only from the realm of what we see as spiritual - i.e., prayer, Bible study, etc. (which of course are not to be minimized, as they are integral to our growth). Yet I believe this word came because the weariness among God's people is competing for their attention, offering untrue suggestions about God's faithfulness and His promises, as well as their purpose and identity.
I hear the Father's heart in this word, reinforcing His commitment to conform you into the image of His Son and reminding you that "...the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and chastises every son whom He receives" (Hebrews 12:6) - which, by the way, is not for His benefit but ours! The mysterious work of affliction by the allowance of pressure, weight and resistance produces unshakable, relentless and fearless faith!
Remember, God is raising up an army to destroy the works of the devil through the victory of Christ! This is your reminder to keep going, keep standing, and trust that God is good and faithful to finish what He began in you!
