"I HAVE CALLED YOU FRIEND"
PAUL KEITH DAVIS, ORANGE, AL
The Lord made an amazing promise to His disciples! He said to them, "No longer do I call you servants... But I have called you friends" (John 15:15). It was the Lord who initiated relationship with man and opened the door of communion between humanity and the divine. It is by His invitation that we come into fellowship with the Creator of the universe and can even be called "a friend of God." That is astounding in its implications.
The Lord fashioned mankind "in His image" (Genesis 1:27) and placed him in a specific environment. It was in this place that the Lord had fellowship with man. Now, even after Adam forfeited authority to the enemy, we can still create a unique environment for the Lord in which we have intimacy and communion with Him. That is our ultimate purpose.
With the authority that has been placed within us (Kingdom within) we can with our words/faith create an environment conducive to His needs for fellowship. In this area that we choose to set apart for the Lord (our prayer closet), we call upon the Lord by waiting on Him. We say, "Let my Beloved come into His garden and eat His pleasant fruit." (Song of Solomon 4:16). And He responds, "I have come into My garden, My sister, My Bride..." (Song of Solomon 5:1).
