OBEDIENCE BRINGS GOD'S POWER AND A NEW SEASON!
DANIEL PONTIOUS, SONORA, CA
Your inheritance is given to you by God but only through faith, and you acting upon that faith will cause you to inherit what you've been promised by God! While receiving prophetic words and promises from the Lord are awesome by themselves, it is only the first phase of receiving our inheritance in Jesus Christ. After obtaining the words or promises, we must learn to appropriate them by faith.
"He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6 KJV)
Our promise is activated by believing what God has told us first and then moving in the direction of that promise by our actions. Faith without works is dead, or simply put, it isn't faith at all. We must take our hope in what God has promised us and put feet to it. As we hear him and move in the direction that he has told us to, we will begin to not only see things happen in the way God has directed us, but we'll also enter into a manifestation of his rest that many sons and daughters of God have never experienced.
When God told Israel that he was going to give them the Promised Land, everyone in the nation rejoiced until they began to see what was standing in the way of them obtaining that promise. As they sent in spies to look over the promise that God had given them, they received an evil report based on what could be viewed in the natural realm— unconquerable obstacles. So they could not enter in to obtain what God had promised them because of a lack of faith in God's ability to use them to obtain it. They were as grasshoppers in their own sight.
"There we saw the Nephilim [or giants], the sons of Anak, who come from the giants; AND WE WERE IN OUR OWN SIGHT AS GRASSHOPPERS, AND SO WE WERE IN THEIR SIGHT." (Numbers 13:33 AMPC, emphasis mine)
Maybe today you're looking at what God has promised you, and you're saying to yourself, "I can never do this; it's impossible," and you're feeling like a "grasshopper" in size in the way you view yourself and your personal abilities. You need to realize that it's Gods ability as you move forward in obedience to the promise. It's where you are going to succeed, and he is going to meet you. Only when you move forward in obedience to him will you be able to obtain what he's promised you.
"[Urged on] by faith Abraham, when he was called, OBEYED AND WENT FORTH to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go." (Hebrews 11:8 AMPC, emphasis mine)
For many sons and daughters in this hour, the Holy Spirit is stretching your obedience to his voice, as he's asking for you to step out into new areas of your destiny in him! These areas may be outside of your current spheres of influence, but if you'll obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit, you'll see him move on your behalf with his power in the place of your own!
Step out in faith by beginning to move in the direction of your destiny and the promises that he's made to you. As you do, doors will open, circumstances will shift, opportunities will appear, and you will find rest in it because of your obedience and his power working on your behalf!
