GOD IS SPEAKING—ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?
BERNICE SHEIDLER, REDMOND, OR
God finds ways to talk to you throughout your day. God is speaking—are you paying attention? God often speaks through repetition: numbers, words, patterns, phrases. When something keeps showing up, DON'T IGNORE IT! It's not random; He is nudging you!
Here's what repetition can look like as you go about your day: You burn 111 calories on the treadmill. Later, you glance at the dash in your car to see 111 miles left until you need to fill up. Then, a few hours later, you glance at your watch to see the time says 1:11. This number continues to reappear throughout your week Repetition, a pattern... it keeps showing up!
God wants your attention. Here's what I do when He is drawing me in this way. I notice it, and I ask, "God, what are You saying?" I wait. Sometimes I hear clearly; other times it's a picture, a feeling, an impression. That moment becomes my invitation to go deeper with Him. He's not just giving me clues, He is drawing me in! It's because God is a lover, and He wants to commune with me. He has a desire to fellowship with me! He's saying, "Talk to Me. Be with Me." So, I lean in. I open the Word, get alone with Him, spend time with Him, and then He begins to show me what He is saying. Sometimes I'll look up a verse connected to the numbers I am seeing, "1:11."
Deuteronomy 1:11 (NKJV): "May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!"
Or I'll look up the prophetic meaning of the number. The number "1" points to God, "oneness," or new beginnings. The number 1 repeated often means God, unity, divine presence. I take what I am learning, and I add it into the conversation; I ask Him about it!
You don't have to chase signs, just stay sensitive. God speaks through His Word but also through patterns and repetition, too! Slow down. Tune in. He's speaking more than you realize!
