DISCERNING YOUR DIVINE MOMENT
KEVIN ZADAI, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
You weren't overlooked. You were being prepared. Like David, your daily obedience in hidden places is shaping you for a divine moment—one that may come suddenly, but for which you've been unknowingly training all along.
Your faithfulness matters. Your private victories matter. And when the time comes, you'll be ready—not because you felt ready, but because the Word has been your guide.
You're not forgotten. Like David, you've been in training for a moment Heaven already scheduled. David was overlooked, but not by God. While others saw a shepherd boy, God saw a future king. He was preparing in private for a public victory. "But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart'" (1 Samuel 16:7 NLT).
Your practice has purpose. David wasn't just passing time with a slingshot—he was building precision for battle. So are you: "He trains my hands for battle; He strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow" (Psalm 18:34 NLT).
Don't mislabel your season. The narrow path may feel lonely, but it's forming your character. God uses hardship to develop authority: "Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing" (James 1:2–4 NLT).
David moved with confidence, not sight. He didn't have armor or a battle plan, just the Word in his heart and a sling in his hand. When you can't see the outcome, trust what God has already said. "Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).
Discern your moment! For forty days, trained warriors froze in fear as Goliath taunted them. But when given the opportunity, David ran to the battle. He didn't wait to feel ready. He discerned his moment and stepped into it: "'Don't worry about this Philistine,' David told Saul. 'I'll go fight him!'" (1 Samuel 17:32).
Be ready when your moment comes.
