YOM KIPPUR: A DAY OF ENTRY

Today on God's Hebrew calendar is Tishrei 10, 5786, which happens sundown Wednesday, October 1, to sundown Thursday, October 2, 2025. On this day, under the old covenant, the high priest would ENTER through the DOOR of the Holy Place and then ENTER through the VEIL into the Holy of Holies. There, he would offer an atoning blood sacrifice that would cover the sin of Israel for the year. But that was then, and this is NOW...
Through Jesus, we have a new and better covenant based on better promises. Jesus ENTERED into the heavenly tabernacle and not only served as our eternal High Priest, in the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:17), but was also our perfect atoning sacrifice. His blood not only covered the sin of Israel for a year but forever erased the sins of the world past, present, and future.
"But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises." (Hebrews 8:6 NIV)
All this was accomplished when He offered His own blood once for all of mankind—"It is finished" (John 19:30). Through His love and sacrifice, Jesus gave us a NEW and LIVING WAY back to our heavenly Father. The VEIL of separation has been torn, and the DOOR is WIDE OPEN. Because of Jesus' finished work on the cross, we have ACCESS to ENTER to DRAW NEAR and come boldly to His throne (Hebrews 4:16).
So even now, as we have ENTERED into 5786, let us ENTER into Yom Kippur, receiving Jesus' great love and resting in His finished work in our lives. For we are deeply loved and fully accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:4–6).
"Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us therefore draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:19–22 KJV)
