I had the opportunity to attend the Tri-County (Cuyahoga, Geauga, & Lake) GOP U. S. Senate Forum this morning in Mayfield Village. Six candidates vying for the Republican nomination were given an opportunity to make an opening statement and then a series of questions were presented.
Questions covered a range of topics from what should be done about the Afghanistan debacle, high energy prices and soaring inflation, getting America working again and growing the economy, the crisis (invasion!) on the southern border, Big Tech & social media censorship, education and Critical Race Theory, dealing with China, and more.
The last question was a two-part question. The first part asked what senator each candidate would like to emulate should they become Ohio's next senator. The second part was a yes or no, if you do not win the nomination will you support the Republican nominee.
All six answered the second part with a yes. As to the first part, here is who they said:
J.D. Vance: Josh Hawley
Josh Mandel: Mike Lee
Jane Timken: Marcia Blackburn & Tim Scott
Bernie Moreno: None!
Matt Dolan: Tim Scott & George Voinovich
Mike Gibbons: Rand Paul
