This little guy is about to become a star in his own series of memes, but he needs a name! As you can see, he's going about it a little on the tough side, but you can see there's a soft side to him too in his appearance. He's right about his size though. Kinnikinic berries are about the size of large red huckleberries or small blueberries. Aboriginals used to dry them and include them in their pemmican recipes. They taste like Red Delicious apples, complete with the grainy texture, and you want to spit out the seeds for the same reason you don't eat apple seeds.
This particular bearberry caught my attention with his mohawk, eyes and mouth, and that glance he's giving. I just HAD to take his picture! He's just made his way onto the world stage this week, featuring on cloth at Spoonflower, and plastering his face all over household goods at Cafepress, Redbubble and most recently Zazzle.
But he has a message (or 10 or 50) and wants to get them out there, but we realized he doesn't have a name! How is he going to get talked about without a name? I have a few naming ideas, but would love it if you chimed in too!
If you come up with a name better than anything myself or others come up with, I'll create a personalized poster with a greeting from him to YOU! You'll get it in digital form that you can print and put on your wall or on your phone or laptop/computer background.
If everyone loves the ideas I am about to share, well, can't give myself that poster very well, I'm the one creating it. But that's ok.
Today's Friday, let's see how many names get tossed in the hat by Sunday night!
