This week we learn more about the sacrifices made at the Tabernacle. Aaron and his sons are ordained for service in the Tabernacle. Moses made 3 sacrifices to prepare the Tabernacle and Aaron for service. 1 bull and 2 rams were sacrificed. The last ram was used for the ordination of the priests. The blood of the last ram was placed on the right ear lobe, right thumb, and the right toe of the priests. Sounds strange to only put blood on the right side and only on these 3 areas.
In the middle eastern culture the right hand is the clean hand and it is the stronger hand. This culture used their left hand to wipe themselves after going to the bathroom. Every time we hear about Gods mighty outstretched hand or arm it is always the right hand or arm.
The blood on the ear was to anoint the priest to be able to hear the Lord. The thumb is the most important finger without it the priest would. It be able to hold the knife to cut the sacrifices apart. Without thumbs they would not be able to pick the sacrifices and place them on the fire. The hands are what is doing the work of the Lord. Without your big toe you would be off balance and fall over. The big toe represents the foundation the priests stand on is solid and firm.
There is a lot we can learn and apply to our walk with God when we truly understand how the Tabernacle and the Priesthood worked.
