This week we enter into the month of Nisan. This is a significant month in history. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were all born and died in the month of Nisan. God set the Jews free from Egypt in the month of Nisan. One year later the Israelites built the Tabernacle on Nisan 1. The Glory of God came down into the Tabernacle. The presents of God was so strong Moses could not enter into the Tabernacle. The next day the 1st Red Heifer was sacrificed to sanctify the People. The next day the Levites were ordained into the service of God in the Tabernacle. On Nisan 5 The spies were sent out the 2nd time to spy out Jericho. Every moment forward the Israelites began to take the land.

We read the 1st five chapters of Leviticus this week. It is all about the job of the Priests. It tells about the Burnt Offering, the Holiest of all offerings, the entire offering belongs to the Lord. We read about the procedure for the Grain Offering, Peace Offering, and the Sin Offering. Then we learn what sins require a Sin Offering. We learn the procedure for making an animal sacrifice. You the person who committed the sin would have to bring a bull, lamb, or goat and you would have to lay your hand on the animals head and confess your sins. In confessing your sins you would transfer them to the innocent animal. Then you not the Priest would have to slit the animals throat.

It was not the Priest’s Job to kill the animal. After you slaughter the animal the Priest would take over skinning the animal along with cutting it into pieces. Then the Priest would take the animal’s fat and organs the nasty part of the body that cleanses the blood and removes the waste. He would wash them before offering them to the Lord. He would clean out the intestines of all the dung before offering it to the Lord. The Priest would then burn the offering on the Alter of God as a burnt offering. THANK GOD WE DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS TODAY.

Here is the take away from what we read this week. People mess up and they need someone to stand in the gap for and with them. It is not always fun helping people because it is inconvenient. The New Testament calls us Kings and Priests. The problem is we are so busy being KINGS we forget our role as PRIESTS. The PRIEST is the ultimate servant doing the dirty work that no one else desires to do. Jesus made it clear if you desire to be the greatest you have to make yourself the least. You have to become the ultimate servant before you will ever truly rule. We have all missed it, myself especially. If you are not seeing things move when you tell them to maybe it is because you have not humbled yourself and served others. Today you can choose to 1st be a PRIEST and serve others which will unlock your Authority as a KING.
