This week tragedy happens in the camp. Miriam passes away and for the first time since year one in the wilderness there is a water issue. 39 years earlier God told Moses to strike the Rock, water would gush out and satisfy everyone and their animals. The Rock Moses struck supplied water for everyone for 39 years. This Rock was called Miriam’s Well. It supplied water until the death of Miriam.

For 39 years Miriam’s faith sustained the community and supplied them water. Miriam’s Faith could only carry the people so far. Your mom, or your dad’s faith can only take you so far. Your aunt, or your grandma’s faith can’t save you. The pastor and the prophet’s faith can’t deliver you. At some point in time you have to stand on your own faith. God allowed the water to dry up to show them how to stand on their own faith.

God told Moses and Aaron to grab the staff from the Tabernacle (Aaron’s Staff). Then to gather the congregation and speak to the Rock and it will give it’s water. Moses then calls everyone to gather around the Rock and Moses calls the congregation REBELS. He then strikes the Rock 2 times. Because of Moses’s disobedience both Moses and Aaron are told they will not go into the Promised Land.

Moses had one last lesson he was to teach the Israelites before they entered the Land. When God told Moses the strike the Rock the first time Moses took the Rock’s free will away. Moses violently took the water from the Rock. Now 39 years later Moses is to speak to the Rock so the people know that nature must obey their words. We do not have to do everything naturally and forcefully. We have dominion and speak to the situation and it has to change. Jesus taught the lesson Moses failed to teach. Jesus while in the boat said peace be still and the wind and storm stopped. Jesus told the Fig Tree to shrivel up and die and it did. Jesus then said speak to the mountain and cast it into the sea. You have power and dominion over every situation.

Do not allow anger to cost you the Promise Land. This week their was an assignation attempt on former President Trump. Do not allow anger to cost you. Stay calm and speak to the mountain. Do not allow words others speak about it, set you off. Speak to the storm. We are in a speaking decade, be careful of what you allow to come out of your mouth. Stop striking when you are suppose to be speaking.
