This week I am going to share something based on the mysticism side of Judaism. This idea comes from Kabbalah. I do not typically teach on Kabbalah, however there is something in this week’s Parashat that I feel we will benefit from this idea. The idea is that before Creation there was only God. He encompassed everything there was only God. In order for God to create the Universe He had to decrease to make room for Creation.
God exists in an environment that mankind cannot. God then decides He would like to create an environment that will sustain Humanity. So God shrinks back to create a space called the Universe that has a Galaxy, that has a Solar System, that has a Planet called Earth. This Planet is the perfect environment for Humanity to exist and excel. On this Planet God created for Himself a special placed called a Garden. This was a place where man could commune with God daily. God would come in the cool of the day to spend time with His creation Adam and Eve. God created a specific time and place for Him in man’s Environment.
This week the 1st thing we are told is about the Sabbath. We are given a specific time to be with God. Them we hear about this special space that man is creating for God. The Israelites are reciprocating by creating God a special place to exist among them. The pattern the Jews followed in creating the Tabernacle matches God’s creation of the earth. God separated the day from night, the land from water and a special Garden. The Tabernacle was separated into 3 sections the Outer Court, Inner Court and the Holy of Holies.
I feel this concept is accurate to what God did when he created the Universe. Look at what happens when a Woman has a child. The womb begins to get larger and the organs inside the woman shift to make room for this new creation. Space gets tight and things have to move. Both the child and the woman exist together the environment changes for both. On the outside of that creation of a child a new environment is created called a nursery. Inside the home a new space has to be created that will sustain the child. Dangerous things have to be moved. Plans for rooms have to change for a season. Things again are shifted around to make room for this new creation.
In the New Testament we are called the Temple of God. We are called New Creatures in Christ. We are to be a King, Priest and a Temple. We are told when we are weak God is made strong. We are told that we have to decrease kill so God can increase. God is looking to take back what He gave up for Creation. He is looking to reclaim it through you. Creation cost God more than we will ever know. It is time we become the Bride He is looking for so He can reclaim what is His.
