Today is Passover. We read about the preparation of the Priests this week. Jesus on this day took His rightful place as the Final High Priest. Jesus honored the Passover on Nissan 13 going into Nissan 14 He finished the meal then went to the Garden to pray. Judas shows up to betray Him in the Garden. Just as days of old Adam and Eve were betrayed in the Garden. Jesus was taken to the High Priest where He was inspected looking for faults. Caiaphas the High Priest ripped his clothes. In his mind it was for the blasphemy of Jesus saying He is the Son of God. What it really signified is he is no longer the High Priest. Jesus is now the High Priest.

After the Jewish Leaders do their inspection of Jesus, He is delivered to Pilot to find fault in Him. Pilot could not find fault in Jesus. Pilot then sends Jesus to Herod could not find fault in Jesus either. Herod put a royal robe on Him making fun of Him and sent Jesus back to Pilot. Pilot has Jesus stripped down publicly and beaten. This week we read the Priests were stripped down publicly and bathed with water. Then dressed in the special clothing of the Priests. Jesus is stripped and beaten. He is not covered by water that washes a man’s physical body. He is covered by His BLOOD which washes a man permanently from his SIN.

After the beating the solders cloth Jesus in a Royal Robe and they fashion a Crown of Thorns they place on His head. They slam it down to where it punctures His scalp. The Priests are washed publicly the clothed according to Leviticus 8:7-9
“He put the official tunic on Aaron and tied the sash around his waist. He dressed him in the robe, placed the ephod on him, and attached the ephod securely with its decorative sash. Then Moses placed the chestpiece on Aaron and put the Urim and the Thummim inside it. He placed the turban on Aaron’s head and attached the gold medallion—the badge of holiness—to the front of the turban, just as the Lord had commanded him.”

Jesus was dressed in a Royal Robe and a Crown of Thorns. Above Jesus when He hung on the cross that was inscribed The King of the Jews.

John 19:20-22
“The place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek, so that many people could read it. Then the leading priests objected and said to Pilate, “Change it from ‘The King of the Jews’ to ‘He said, I am King of the Jews.’”Pilate replied, “No, what I have written, I have written.””

Jesus was not only the Perfect Sacrificial Lamb, He was also elevated to the Perfect High Priest that last one we will ever need. Today we as followers of Christ are called to be Royal Priesthood before Him. Are you fulfilling the call? Are you Holy? Are clean and purified before the Lord? Are you a light leading others to Christ? Do others see you and see you are not of the World? If not there is work to be done or we will end up in Caiaphas’s position losing the position we were given in the Kingdom.
