The Prayerful Word - June 8

  • Acts 1:8 Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”

James 5:17-18 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Revelation 16:7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.

Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh…

Galatians 6:8 For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life.

May you be faithful to the Lord, and righteous and upright in heart, for then God can show you great kindness and give you the desires of your heart. 1 Kings 3

May you desire a listening and hearing heart, able to understand and discern God's ways, so that you may serve His people with compassion and minister His judgments with mercy and grace. 1 Kings 3

As you go about the work which God leads you through and directs you in, may you find that those who oppose you are unable to stand up against the wisdom and the Spirit within you. Acts 6

Your life is to be in balance, My child, though the world will see it as contradictory. The greatest among My people shall be the servant of all; you are not to receive a title and lord it over others, for all who do will pay a penalty and be humbled.
My people are called to be warriors, but you are not to deal death and destruction to people and property, rather, to defend those who cannot defend themselves.
You do not struggle against flesh and blood, but against the unseen principalities and powers of wickedness in the spiritual realm with weapons that are not material, yet mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. When in battle, you are diligent in the care and use of the weapons and the armor, yet you do not depend on them or the will of man, placing your confidence, instead, in Me, the Captain of the host of heaven.
You are to walk in the fear of the Lord, yet that fear inspires faith, brings blessing, and causes joy to spring up in your heart. You are not to simply talk the talk of your faith, but walk it out, doing what is right; even more, you find it is not enough to simply do great things in My name – you must do whatever is done for the right reason, motivated by love for Me, being humbly obedient to My Word and My Spirit, seeking to keep no glory for yourself, pointing all eyes to My empty cross, open tomb, and occupied throne.
You find that as you seek and strive first for My kingdom and My righteousness rather than for your own status and prosperity, that all your needs, as well as the needs of others, are met by My provision. You are blessed with all spiritual blessings, and the riches of heaven are poured out on you, but only as you use them for the sake of others will it continue; the outpouring dries up whenever it is hoarded or accumulated.
It is through dying to self, that which matters most in the world, that you start to live by the Spirit, which is not known or understood by those who know only death. The path to My glory leads through the realm of sorrow and suffering, just as the rock containing gold must be broken, pulverized, and put in the furnace before the gold can be gathered and shaped into beauty that will adorn the King. Be renewed in your mind, My confused one, and let My Spirit reveal the truth of My ways to you.

May you know the assurance of a joyful harvest after a season of effort-filled, sorrowful, rejection-laden planting, for when the Lord restores the well-being of His people and delivers those in captivity, your heart will be comforted and filled with songs of joy. Psalm 126

May your heart's hunger and soul's desire to see God's kingdom increase and flourish give you motivation to continue seeking and pursuing the hidden things of the Lord, yielding your will to His and casting down your pride for His humility. Proverbs 16:26
