The Prayerful Word - September 06

  • John 14:23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will obey My teaching. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him."

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Galatians 3:5 So again I ask, does God give you His Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?

James 2:12 So speak and so act as [people should] who are to be judged under the law of liberty [the moral instruction given by Christ, especially about love].

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

May you cherish in your heart the assurances of His pardon and forgiveness from His Word as you would a kiss from the one you love, never letting it become casual but ever treasuring the evidences of His deep and lasting compassion. Song of Songs 1

May His love be more delightful to you than wine and may His name be like perfume poured out. Song of Songs 1

May you not attempt to capture or seal shut the fragrant, healing balm of His Name's anointing, but allow it to freely flow equally to all as does oil when it is liberally poured out. Song of Songs 1

May you rejoice and delight in the Lord, for it is always right to adore Him. Song of Songs 1

May you celebrate that regardless of how circumstances in the past have affected you, that despite how work-worn, base, or contemptible others view you as, you are made comely in Christ, changed by His love, and have become accepted and cherished in the sight of God. Song of Songs 1

May you know where He grazes His flock in the morning and where He rests His sheep at midday. Song of Songs 1

May He ever be the One Whom your soul loves, and in Whom your heart finds rest while in the heat of outward trials and inward conflicts. Song of Songs 1

May you be granted to see with the eyes of Christ, and value with the understanding of the Lord, the beauty of those adorned with humility, modesty, simplicity and sincerity, as He is expressed and demonstrated in their lives. Song of Songs 1

May you be brought to His banquet hall where His banner over you is love. Song of Songs 2

May you be willing to be drawn away with Him from the winter of discontent and sin into the spring of communion and the time of pruning and flowering. Song of Songs 2

My child, do not be grudging in the release of your confidence in the world, nor reluctant in the casting away of your dependencies on others as your source. Do not allow doubt or fear to inhibit you from releasing the ties that bind you to what you can see and hear, touch and feel, for what you can measure can be taken, and what you can accumulate can be lost.
As long as you believe you can cover the facts with a good appearance, you will have no power in your walk with Me. Until you accept that it would be better for you to lose all you have, all you hope for in the world, and all you are known for among men in order to know Me without misunderstanding and to have Me without hindrance, you will not know the satisfaction of My presence and the joy of My fullness.
Do not fear or reject the invitation of the Spirit to come honestly into the light of My throne room, for you have an Advocate pleading your cause. Do not be reticent before the cloud of witnesses that surrounds you, for they, too, have faced this same need, and they are cheering you on.
Allow My Spirit to reveal within your heart what My Word has to say to you, for I will make glad your soul. Permit My praise to pour from your lips as you lift up your heart, and you will find your hands will follow suit. Let the longing of your soul carry you through the times of dryness into the periods of refreshing when you receive My abundance, knowing it is even better than life itself. Be assured, My love, that the more needy you are, the more confidently you will touch My heart.

May you persistently seek Him in the gray days of duty and enduringly hold to Him as you find Him through His Word and His Spirit. Song of Songs 3

May you not rely on the watchmen provided by tradition or the guardians of custom to direct you to the One Whose love is your comfort. Song of Songs 3

May the abundant gifts and graces of the Spirit be a pleasing and desirable fragrance in your life, as you accept His invitation to come down from the mountains where the predators are found and dwell within His garden, protected by His hedge, refreshed by His wells. Song of Songs 4

May you flourish and produce fruit to attract and refresh those who still dwell in a dry and desolate land. Song of Songs 4

May you bring honor to Christ through your willing enthusiasm in His work, your clear conscience and pure character in the marketplace, and your faith and confidence in the people of God. 2 Corinthians 8

May you sacrifice thank offerings to God and give Him honor, preparing your heart to be shown the salvation of God. Psalm 50

May you love the instruction of God and draw His words close, holding them in your heart and storing them in your thoughts, following His counsel to turn from those who steal and rebuking the adulterer, speaking truth in love, encouraging your brother and building up your sister as you align your will and your deeds with the King. When you stand before Him face to face, your reward will be in His hand, and He will accept your works, seating you beside Him. Psalm 50

May you gather with those who are His consecrated ones having made a covenant with Him by sacrifice, for He comes, perfect in beauty, and will not be silent. Psalm 50

May you sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High and call upon Him in the day of trouble, for He will deliver you and you will honor Him. Psalm 50
