Galatians 5:1 says “So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law”. So this is scripture and it is truth. The problem is that right behind this truth comes the suggestion by the enemy that it’s not possible to be totally free. Certainly not 100%. But let me ask a question. How does God see you in Christ? He sees you as 100% totally free from the yoke of bondage. It’s our mind that keeps us from enjoying all that God has for us and being all that He says we are. So right here we can add the rest of the scripture from Romans 12:2 where it reads “so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect”. We know that the will of God is “on earth as it is in heaven”.
It’s not our job to get to heaven, that’s His job. Our job is to get heaven to earth. We are His workmanship. We are ambassadors for Christ. We are 100% set free from the law of sin and death. Now if your mind is not renewed, than this will upset you or at least cause you to be confused.
The scriptures say that we shall know the truth, and the truth shall make us free. Now Jesus said that so we ought to be absolutely certain that what He said is Truth. We ought to grab onto that truth and say, okay I’m going to know the truth, because Jesus said so. It may be a progressive journey to know the truth, but Jesus said I would.
It is just like when I realized the truth about tithing. It was progressive, but the truth came. Not only that, He said that truth I know will make me free. A renewed mind, seeing things from God’s perspective, will allow you to receive everything that Jesus said. Also, scripture states that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Now I can’t help but notice there are no conditions associated with these truths. That tells me we can be 100% set free. Why would we want to settle for anything less than “free indeed”?
The un-renewed mind will see things as difficult and burdensome. The way you will know that your mind is renewed is when the impossible looks logical. Now with that introduction let me say that we can take any number of subjects to prove the importance and necessity of a renewed mind. Here are a number of subjects that could be expounded upon to describe what happens when the mind is not renewed and what happens when it is renewed.
Sin verses righteousness. Law verses grace. Tithing verses giving. Performance verses sonship. Principles of God verses the presence of God. Penitence verses Repentance. Trying to get holy rather than just BEING holy
That’s a pretty good list and we could pick anyone and expand on them to show the difference between a renewed mind and an un-renewed mind. Maybe I’ll go into these in a later lesson/teaching as God directs me, but in the interest of time and space, do your own studying on these. Just take the topics and ask the question – “How does God see these things”. Then search out scripture for the truth.
Here’s a “for instance”. Pastors, teachers, and other people say we are sinners, but what does God say? They (whoever they are) say we have to tithe to our home church, because that’s the storehouse spoken of in Malachi. But what does God say? Better yet, study the New Testament about how the giving occurred and who it was for. They say we need to do this or that and we need to keep the commandments or law. But what does God say about grace? You get the idea.
Without a renewed mind, we will continue to be influenced by the thinking and pressures of the world system. Our believing/thinking ought to be aligned with Kingdom principles and God’s presence. “The supernatural realm is the norm, but the supernatural realm is only accessible to the measure with which your mind is renewed. That part of your renewed mind is what will give you entrance into the supernatural realm where miracles become simple.” Bill Johnson.
It takes a renewed mind to walk in the truth that you are Holy and don’t have to try to get Holy. It takes a renewed mind to believe that you are righteous and not a sinner. It takes a renewed mind to know that you hear from God just as clearly as someone who is made out to be a spiritual superstar because of their huge ministry. God is no respecter of persons. He gives the same promise to each and every one of us, but it takes a renewed mind to believe it and receive it. Here’s a good example that I use all the time. Romans 5:17 in the NLT:
“For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.”
And in the Message “If death got the upper hand through one man’s wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?”
I love that part where it says “grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides”? The reason it has a question mark at the end is because it started out with, “Can you imagine”?
What a good question. Just imagine beyond your wildest dreams what God has given you the authority to do and then remember another one of my favorite scriptures. Ephesians 3:20 in the NLT:
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
And in the Message once again.
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”
All I can say to that is WOW!!! GOD CAN DO ANYTHING, and He does it without pushing us around. It’s God doing it, all we need to do is renew our mind to that truth and simply imagine it.
Not only is God doing it, but He will do far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams. How good is that, but it takes a renewed mind to receive it and enjoy it. Grace and Peace.
