Believer's Authority (4)

  • Okay. Finishing up this powerful truth regarding the Believer's Authority. Here's part 4.

Colossians 2:15 – “He defeated the rulers and powers of the spiritual world. With the cross he won the victory over them and led them away, as defeated and powerless prisoners for the whole world to see”.

These are the powers and principalities we read about in Ephesians. We have the victory. We just need to exercise our delegated authority. That’s where most Christians miss it. Waiting for God to do something, but God has already done it. He’s waiting for you to exercise your authority.

Jesus destroyed principalities and powers and made a parade of them in front of the Father. He made a show of them openly for all the world to see. They had chains on. The next time the devil comes to you with his lies and deception, ask him – didn’t I see you in a parade?

    Colossians 2:9,10

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the godhead bodily. 10 and ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Wait. So if the fullness of the godhead dwells bodily in Him, and I am COMPLETE in Him, then the fullness of the godhead dwells bodily in me. Wow. Tell that to a legalist and see what happens. It’s truth from scripture, but religious people will not receive it even when it’s right there in scripture. It is not arrogant to know who you are in Christ, but those who are weak in faith will view it as arrogance.

    Ephesians 1:22,23

22 and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.

We are it. All that Christ is, you are. But I made too many mistakes. It doesn’t depend on your righteousness. It’s his righteousness. It’s Christ in you the hope of glory. We were raised with him and made to sit in heavenly places. We have authority, but we must let it become real in our life. Quit doubting your right standing.

You are far above, seated in heavenly places. It’s all in Him. Authority, inheritance, power. It’s all in Jesus and he has delegated it all to us.

Remember. Jesus said in John 17:18 – “I have sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world”. How did God send Jesus into the world? Matthew 28:18 – “So he came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me”.

Now both of those statements were made by Jesus. They are in red letters in your bibles. So it’s safe to say that you and I have been give all authority in heaven and on earth. We can say this without fear of contradiction, because it’s what Jesus declared about us.

In closing, we see that the Apostle Paul understood exactly what Matthew and John wrote, regarding what Jesus said. It’s clear he did in the scriptures we’ve used throughout Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and so on. Well, the Apostle Peter understood this as well. Look at this verse in 2 Peter 1:3.

Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live a life devoted to God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus chose us by his glory and goodness,

God has given us everything we need. You should now know what your authority is and that it has been given freely to you by the great grace of God. Grace and Peace.
