Why Good Friday Is Good

  • Why Good Friday Is Good

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)
    good friday

Good Friday marks the day Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross 2,000 years ago. We celebrate Good Friday because Christ's death was a sacrifice so that we could receive the gift of eternal life.

Jesus died for the sins of all mankind, willingly offering His blood as atonement for our sins. What man did for evil by killing Jesus, God meant for good and the result changed the course of humanity!

On this day, we reflect on what God has done for us. We meditate on the love He gives to us so freely, the forgiveness He gives though none of us deserve it, and the mercy of salvation He extends to all who believe.

The name Good Friday is entirely appropriate because the suffering and death of Jesus, as terrible as it was, marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.

God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, "I love you.”
