The women were in mourning because their Lord had been taken away from them. They were coming to the tomb in order to prepare the body of Jesus for a proper burial. Can you imagine their shock in finding the stone rolled away? Their initial reaction was that someone had come and stolen His body, and had probably defiled it in some way - a perfectly logical assumption.
When they heard the news that Jesus had indeed risen from dead, their mourning immediately turned to unspeakable joy!
Today as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, let us have that same joy bursting from us and overflowing to others who need to know that Jesus is risen, Jesus is risen indeed!
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
