We live in a very rural area. In order to get to our county, people have to drive across one of two bridges that span the Rappahannock River. The bridge closest to us, the Robert O. Norris Bridge, has two lanes and a metal truss structure. Some people are nervous about crossing the bridge because they feel it is too narrow with low guard rails, but the bridge enables efficient travel from one side of the river to the other.
Jesus, through His death and resurrection, bridged heaven and earth. It was His death on the cross that made it possible for us to be reconciled to God through His blood.
We have instant access to the Father because Jesus removed all obstacles to God’s presence. In times of fruitfulness and happy days, as well as through every trial and trouble, we can know that the bridge to God’s presence is always safe to cross. It is paved with the blood of Christ.
Only Christ could build a bridge to God with only two pieces of wood.
