Because I was a medical transcriptionist for so many years, I believed I had punctuation down, and I did as far as technical writing went. It took me forever to learn that there IS a difference between technical writing and creative writing... Yep, that's what I thought, "Punctuation is punctuation, right?" Nope, Dialogue punctuation for one! I don't think I EVER used that in a medical report!
