This page focuses on the presence and activity of the Spirit in the church based on studies from the scriptures. What began on the Day of Pentecost was an epochal event that marked the birth of the church as God filled his disciples with His Life-Giving Spirit, equipping them to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ "to the uttermost parts of the earth." And the gift of the Spirit is integral to the biblical faith and linked to several of its key teachings such as the future bodily resurrection, the new covenant, and the new creation. Just as there is no Christianity without the true Christ, so there is no true church without the Spirit of God.
This page features articles from my blog site, The Quickening Spirit (quickening-spirit.org), which focuses on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the church, and its gift ministries.
I have been a student of the Bible for fifty years. My goal is to share what I have learned with you and others to help us all become better disciples of Jesus. I reside in the city of Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island in Washington State ~ David R. Maas, June 2022.
