This weeks Parashat we learn that Moses taught Aaron and his sons how to do the work of the Priests for 7 days. On the 8th day Aaron and his sons took over and fire came down from Heaven and consumed the sacrifices. 2 of Aaron’s sons Nadab whose name means to present spontaneously, to offer freely and Abihu whose name means worshiper of God offered strange fire before the Lord. What they did was take the incense into the Holy of Holies. Their excitement got the best of them. Their zeal over took their following of instructions. It cost them their lives. Only the High Priest was allowed once a year into the Holy place at the designated time. What is the church doing today that is strange fire before the Lord?
