This weeks Parashat is the beginning of Deuteronomy. Here Moses is giving his final address to the people of Israel before he goes up the mountain to die. The reading we are looking at this week is his recap of the past 40 years, the successes and failures. Here Moses is reminding the people one last time of where they came from.
In a very short time after Moses gives the address of Deuteronomy everything will change for the Israelites. They are transitioning from a 100% supernatural way of life. The life of manna and water from the rock to a natural life where they have to work for bread and water. It is no longer going to be provided supernaturally. Now they will have to do for themselves.
Later we read in Isaiah when Israel does not heed Moses’s words. We begin to see history repeat itself. Even though the Jewish people mess up over and over God still loves them. Even though you and I mess up He still loves us. He corrects us, but Oh how He loves us.
In Matthew and Mark this week we read Jesus giving instructions similar to Moses as He tells what is yet to come before He too dies. We also read in Acts about Sauls conversion. We see how God can redeem anyone no matter how far away from God they have gone. This is the good news that we have the opportunity, NO OBLIGATION to share.

I’m thankful Holy Spirit reminds us to take every thought captive. Whatever is Holy. Whatever is pure. Think on these things
