This week’s Parashat we read about the last 3 plagues.
Locusts
Darkness
Death of the 1st Born
Moses walks into Pharaoh’s Court. They have a great altercation as Moses insults Pharaoh by saying to him “So, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go, so they can worship me. Pharaoh gets so angry he kicks Moses and Aaron out. Pharaoh’s officials talk to Pharaoh and they bring Moses and Aaron back. Pharaoh then Offers an olive branch of peace. He says only the men can go. Moses says that isn’t good enough. He tells Pharaoh everyone must go and all the flocks and cattle too. Pharaoh lose it and kicks out Moses. Then the plague of Locusts comes. Pharaoh has had enough he agrees to let everyone go, but the animals must stay. Moses provoked him even more by saying all the animals need to go and Pharaoh must also give them additional animals. Pharaoh at this point tells Moses he shall never see him again.
The plague of Darkness is here
God tells Moses, “Tell all the Israelite men and women to ask their Egyptian neighbors for articles of silver and gold.” (Now the Lord had caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the people of Israel. And Moses was considered a very great man in the land of Egypt, respected by Pharaoh’s officials and the Egyptian people alike.)”
When did God 1st tell Moses this? God told him this at the burning bush. Go back to the end of chapter 3 and read it.
““But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand forces him. So I will raise my hand and strike the Egyptians, performing all kinds of miracles among them. Then at last he will let you go. And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed. Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.”
The final plague comes all the 1st born sons and animals die. Pharaoh finally let’s the Israelites go.
“Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron during the night. “Get out!” he ordered. “Leave my people—and take the rest of the Israelites with you! Go and worship the Lord as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds, as you said, and be gone. Go, but bless me as you leave.” All the Egyptians urged the people of Israel to get out of the land as quickly as possible, for they thought, “We will all die!” The Israelites took their bread dough before yeast was added. They wrapped their kneading boards in their cloaks and carried them on their shoulders. And the people of Israel did as Moses had instructed; they asked the Egyptians for clothing and articles of silver and gold. The Lord caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the Israelites, and they gave the Israelites whatever they asked for. So they stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!”
Exodus 12:31-36
Now I have a question for you the reader. At what time did Moses have victory over Pharaoh? Did Moses have the victory at the Red Sea? Did he have victory at the death of the 1st born, or at the Darkness.? Did he have the victory at the Locusts, Death of live stock, Boils or Hail? Did Moses have victory at the Frogs, Gnats, or Flies? Did he have victory when the Nile turned to Blood or when his staff turned to a serpent and ate Pharaoh’s magicians staffs?
Here is the answer Moses had the victory at the Burning Bush when God told him he would have it. Historians say that the 10 Plagues took 2 years to complete. It took 2 years for the word to come to pass. What has God told you that you have been waiting for? Hold on it is about to come to pass. It has been almost 2 years since 15 Days to Slow the Spread. Passover is just around the corner. Your Red Sea moment is almost here. Get ready, sleep with your sandals on your feet it is time to move.
