This week we learn about God and ourselves. This week God gives the material list required to build the Tabernacle. He then tells Moses to ask the people to give freely the building materials. Now when God gives the instructions and blueprint how to build the Tabernacle He focuses 1st on the Ark of the Covenant. What is most important to God is not the house or structure. What is most important is the purpose. The covenant and what holds the covenant is what is most important.

Next God focuses on the table of Show Bread. This is a direct reference to Christ and His Body. Next God gives the instructions for the Menorah which also represents Christ the Light of the World. Now that these items are established then God focuses on the structure. God transitions to the curtains and poles needed to house and protect what is important.

Now that the items that represent the Covenant and God’s Son Jesus we then instructed to build the Alter for Burnt Offerings. This is placed in the courtyard. Which God gives the instructions for the curtains for the courtyard. The offerings offered on the Alter of Burnt Offerings is what brings us into right standing so we can enter into the Covenant that is, and is yet to come.

We are not given the full instructions for the Tabernacle this week. Next week we will read about other items they will be commanded to create. This week ends with the command to the people to provide oil to keep the Lamp Stand burning continually in the Holy Place. I ask you today as we are called the Temple of God is the LIGHT SHINNING. When people see you do they see the LIGHT OF CHRIST. It is time to light the fire and leave it burning.
