This week we read about Noah. I could go on and on about recreation. I actually did go in great detail about Recreation In this weeks Parashat video which will be released later this week. It can be watched on these platforms
I would like to focus on the last story in this week’s Parashat. That story is the Tower of Babel. The whole world spoke one language. They journeyed from the east and gathered into the plains of Shinar. They then discover the newest technology of the day. They say let us make bricks and bake them with fire. In Hebrew it actually says let us brick, bricks. Notice there is no purpose for the bricks. They are making them just because they can. Once they have an overflow of bricks then they decide to build a great city. A city with a great tower that reaches into the Heavens. They decided to build it for their own name sake. This creation is to keep them from scattering across the Earth.
God hears of the things the people are building so He came down to see what they were doing. Something about what they were doing upset God. He saw that history was about to repeat itself. God PROMISED He would not destroy the Earth again. So God says:
Genesis 11:6-7
“And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.””
Instead of destroying the Earth He uses the reason they were creating the Tower to cause them to be separated. God knew that they were unstoppable so He had to delay them. Now God is calling us to unity. Now is the time for His Bride.
The people in Babylon were seduced by the technology of the day. Today we have so much more technology than they ever had. Everyday new technology is coming out. What technology is seducing you? Technology is a tool and it should be treated as such. It should help you accomplish your purpose according to God’s will for your life. It should not take God’s place in your life. I challenge you to make sure your heart is right and that nothing is taking God’s place. He says He will not share His Glory with anything.
