We get our understanding of time, 60 seconds equals a minute, 7 days equals a week, etc., from the stars, moon and sun and how we rotate together. These measurements of time did not start until the 4th day. If the earth was without form the first day, then a day could be a few minutes or several thousand years. Therefore, the earth really could be millions of years old.
